Using Interactions to Support Your Business

Behavioural design is a growing trend in websites that uses interactions to encourage users to take specific actions or develop a habit. In business websites, those actions typically lead to the visitor using your product or service and perhaps referring other customers.

Typically, the more interaction a website user has, the higher the interest they have and therefore, the more they will explore the site and even purchase your product or service. Behavioural design uses psychology, design, technology and creativity to use the reasons people do the things that they do and convert them into behaviour or actions.

In a website, you are using visual cues to trigger a behaviour. For example, "click here to find out how to save 30% of your next purchase" or "refer a friend and receive one free session". Another great example are website scavenger hunts, mini animations or personalized websites, which gathers information like interests, demographics or geographics to tailor which information the user is directed to.
