How do you know if your website content is stale? Well, let's back up a bit. Why do you want to know if your site is stale? There are two groups that we need to be concerned about for this question: the customer and the Google.
If a customer has visited your site numerous times and sees that nothing has changed, why would they go back? There is no new information, no new product features or sales, no new reasons to engage in business with you.
If Google sees you haven't updated your site in a while (and this includes your Google My Business listing), then it drops your site down in ranking, which means less potential customers visit your site. No good.
So, back to the original question: how do you know if your content is stale? Ask Google Search Console. This is a great tool which allows you to sign in, and after verifying your site, get reports on your site's performance for a given time period.
A good rule of thumb is three months. If you're not seeing any clicks on any page in that time frame, it is likely stale.
