Icons can be used as menu items or may even be paired with a descriptive word for clarity. You'll notice this trend with big company websites like Apple and Peloton in response to user experience trends.
When choosing your icons, be sure they are the same style, size and dimension. For example, don't use a 3-D colour icon for one menu item, and a line drawing for another.
